Northbridge High student seriously injured in fight
NORTHBRIDGE — A Northbridge High School student was seriously injured during a fight with another student Monday at the school, according to a school official.
In a statement, School Superintendent Amy McKinstry said the witnesses did an “outstanding job” attending to the injured student and getting police and EMS services to him quickly.
The injured student is expected to make a full recovery, McKinstry said.
McKinstry said she spoke to the injured student Thursday night. She said the student is in good spirits and is eager to get back to school as soon as possible.
Boston 25 News said the injured student is 17 and the other student in the fight is 18.
"Appropriate measures were taken by the HS administration that reflect the school and district handbook policies, and the appropriate authorities have been involved,” McKinstry said in the statement. “At no time during this incident were any other students in danger.”
Northbridge police said the investigation is ongoing and wouldn’t comment further on the case.
