Outer limits

Outer Stylie lays down a surprisingly solid psychedelic groove. In a lot of ways, the band is reminiscent of ’90s favorites Counting Crows, with its deep, resonant vocals and soul-inspired lyrics giving a gravitas to a sound that could otherwise be spacey and ungrounded. The effect works, with songs such as “Unbound” and “Jupiter Moon” being both cathartic and listenable. Outer Stylie performs at 10 p.m. Jan. 12 at Beatnik’s, 433 Park Ave., Worcester. (508) 926-8877.
