AAA has arrangements with Mass Pike

This is regarding a recent letter from Dudley concerning AAA service on the Massachusetts Turnpike (Telegram & Gazette, July 13). AAA has assured the letter writer, and wants to assure all AAA members, that AAA service is available to members on the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Through a longstanding special arrangement that AAA has with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, roadside assistance calls to AAA from AAA members on the Massachusetts Turnpike are transferred directly to the State Police barracks that serves the breakdown area and the police dispatch Massachusetts Turnpike contractors, who are all AAA-affiliated. These trucks will provide service or tow the member to the nearest place of safety off the turnpike, and AAA will arrange for another AAA tow service to pick the member up and tow the car to their requested destination.

AAA also wants members to know that all regular AAA benefits apply after members are towed off the turnpike. In cases where the member is required to pay cash for service obtained on the turnpike, AAA will reimburse that member in accordance with our procedures and benefits.

AAA places great emphasis on properly handling all of our member calls for roadside assistance, and are pleased that we were able to make these special arrangements with the turnpike and the State Police on behalf of our members.
