Nashoba girls track splits, boys swim makes a splash

BOLTON - The Nashoba Regional High School girls indoor track team continued its league season on Wednesday, taking on both Westboro and Fitchburg in a double dual meet.

The girls produced a split result, defeating Fitchburg 52-39, but falling 62-29 to Westboro at Fitchburg High School.

The Chieftain highlights included:

• Ali Gillooly was victorious in both the 2-mile and the 1,000m in both meets.

• Rose O'Riorden won the 600m in both meets.

• Ally Gruca won the shot put in both meets.

Boys Swim

The Nashoba boys swimming and diving team improved to 6-1 on the season with victories over Shrewsbury, 111-51, on Monday and Wachusett, 96-71, last Friday.

Nashoba swim and dive is a co-op with Clinton, Hudson, Leominster and Marlboro High Schools.

The Chieftain highlights against Shrewsbury included:

• In the 200-yard medley relay, Jake Eastman (Nashoba), Nicholas Fournier (Leominster), Liam Pyatt (Clinton) and Minh-Huy Le (Nashoba) placed first with a time of 1:46.90.

• In the 200 freestyle relay, Quinn Gross (Nashoba), Carter Kowalski (Leominster), Fournier and Pyatt placed first with a time of 1:40.18.

• In the 400 freestyle relay, Kowalski, Ben Kalber (Nashoba), Le and Eastman placed first with a time of 3:38.78.

• Pyatt placed first in diving with a score of 158.25, and first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.15.

Against Wachusett, the highlights included:

• In the 200 medley relay, Eastman, Kowalski, Le and Fournier placed first with a time of 1:48.94.

• In the 200 freestyle relay, Gross, Kowalski, Pyatt and Kalber placed first with a time of 1:40.84.

• In the 400 freestyle relay, Kalber, Pyatt, Le and Eastman placed first with a time of 3:35.16.

• Pyatt placed first in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly.

• Eastman placed first in the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle.

• Fournier placed first in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

• Le placed first in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Girls Swim

The girls team dropped to 1-6 with losses to Shrewsbury, 99-86, and Wachusett, 109-61.

Highlights from the Shrewsbury meet included:

• Taylor Doyle-Lebouf (Leominster) placed first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:23.28.

• Izzy Nguyen (Nashoba) placed first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:17.77.

• Allison Lucas (Marlboro) placed first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:36.45.

• In the 400 freestyle relay, Bea Ogden (Nashoba), Lucas, Doyle-Lebouf and Abby Eastman (Nashoba) placed first with a sectionals-qualifying time of 4:20.24.

The highlights against Wachusett included:

• Abby Eastman placed first in the 200 individual medley and second in the 100 butterfly.

• Doyle-Lebouf placed second in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke with League-meet qualifying, personal-best times in both events.
