Winter Weather Advisory issued for parts of Massachusetts with icing expected this weekend

It may be spring, but be prepared for wintry conditions this weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for northwest portion of Massachusetts today as icing is possible as a winter storm moves through northern New England this weekend. The advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 through 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 30.
"Freezing rain are expected. Total ice accumulations up to two tenths of an inch," the advisory says. The greatest chance for freezing rain is overnight.
The icing is expected to be worst in the Worcester Hills and in the northern Berkshires, particularly at elevations over 1,000 feet. Drivers are warned to prepare for slick conditions.

The National Weather Service says southern New England can expect "raw and chilly" conditions this weekend "along with a few showers at times as well as areas of fog and drizzle," according to the forecaster's discussion.
Saturday is expected to be rainy into Sunday, with a high of 38 degrees predicted.
It will start to warm back up either late Sunday or early Monday when a warm front will move in. "bringing much milder temperatures by Monday afternoon," the forecaster's discussion says. "A cold front will bring showers along with the risk of downpours and a rumble or two of thunder late Monday/Monday night. Dry weather returns Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures trending cooler."
